INTRODUCTION
Asha Deep Foundation initiated CHILDLINE Ghaziabad in the year 2010 as one of the collaborating agencies of Childline India Foundation under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.

CHILDLINE is India's first 24-hour free phone outreach service 1098 for children in need of emergency assistance. It aims to be a caregiver who is just a phone call away from any child in need of help. To access this service, any child or adult (on behalf of the child) can dial -1098 free of cost. THE AIMS OF CHILDLINE:
  • CHILDLINE aims at responding to the emergency needs of every child in need of care and protection.
  • Reaching out to every child in need of care and protection by responding to emergencies on 1098
  • Working together with allied systems to create child friendly systems
  • Advocate for services in order to help children in need of care protection.
THE OBJECTIVES OF CHILDLINE:
  • To reach out to every child in need of care and protection by responding to emergencies on 1098 and by physically reaching out to children.
  • To adapt and integrate telecommunication technology, linking all districts to the service of 1098, and making it available to all children in need of care and protection.
  • To provide a platform of networking amongst organizations and to provide linkages to support systems that facilitates the rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection.
  • To work together with the Allied Systems (Police, Health Care, Juvenile Justice, Transport, Legal, Education, Communication, Media, Political and the Community) to create child friendly systems.
  • To advocate for services for children that are inaccessible, non-existent or inadequate.
  • To create a body of NGOs and Government organizations working within the national framework and policy for children.
  • To be a nodal child protection agency in the country, providing child protection services to children in need of care and protection.
  • To contribute and work towards strengthening and participating in a global movement that addresses issues related to child protection and ensures that children's voices are heard.
TARGET GROUP:

  • Street children and Youth living on streets
  • Child Laborers working in unorganized sector.
  • Domestic help especially girls.
  • Children suffering - physical/ sexual, emotional abuse in schools, homes, commercial sector,
  • Government and non-government organizations etc.

SALIANT FEATURES OF CHILDLINE GHAZIABAD:
  • The Childline was inaugurated on 21st April 2010 by S.S.P. of Ghaziabad Mr. Raghubir Lal, I.P.S. The Honourable S.S.P. Mr. Raghubir Lal emphasized on issues relating to Child rights and working positively towards contributing in the best interest of the children. The inauguration was honoured by 68 participants including Provisional Officer, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, Mr. Sumit, Childline India Foundation, officers from various N.G.O.'s namely Prerna, Swami Bal Nath Ashram and Sneh Pariva who are actively working in Ghaziabad area. Print Media (Nai Duniya) and Electronic Media (ETV and BCN) and officers from the Police Department, BSNL Office and the Childline India Foundation also participated in inauguration event. The inauguration was quite motivating towards sincere efforts to be initiated in contributing more towards the welfare of children and working for the best interest of the children.
  • Mass Awareness program is carried by CHILDLINE team in Govt. school and Private Schools every month to generate awareness about 1098 Service. In this process the CHILDLINE team visited nearly 50 schools of the area and reached out to more than 10000 children. This awareness was a good learning experience to start organizing open house awareness programs in future.
  • The Childline-Ghaziabad has rescued nearly 10 children so far from the domestic violence and they have been successfully rehabilitated.
  • The Childline-Ghaziabad has repatriated more than 15 missing children.
