DAY CARE CENTRE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
 
INTRODUTCION-:

Asha Deep Foundation runs a day care centre for senior citizens who are living in the area where ADF operates i.e. Delhi-U.P border area. The centre is specifically for those senior citizens who are more or less destitute and who have either no children to look after them or been neglected by their children, they are left to look after themselves of their own. Such old people are taken care of by ADF at the Day care centre. They come in the morning & go back to their home in the evening, having breakfast and lunch in between and carry their supper to their home. During their stay at the centre they enjoy the friendship and togetherness among themselves. They spend their time sharing to each other their problems, experiences etc. and listening to the news of the day from the caretaker of the centre .Some of the times they also play some indoor games & take rest only. Presently two day care centres are running within the community and ADF cares the need of 34 senior citizens. These are as follows-

  • Day care centre for senior citizens
    Basti Vikas Kendra,   D- block New Seemapuri, Delhi.

  • Day care centre for senior citizens
    D-block, Shahid Nagar, Ghaziabad.

Aim of the Project-: 
The main aim of the project is to provide a sense of dignity, self-respect, self-dependence and confidence to the senior citizens of the confined project area so as to improve their quality of life.

Objectives-:

  • Provide nutrition to the elderly people to save them from feeling of dependence on their family members.
  • Improved health care so they may have a decent life.
  • Provide secured day shelter to the elderly.
  • Developed fellowship among elderly people to overcome loneliness in their life.
  • Provide support to the elderly people who have nobody to look after.
Target group-:
The target group is the 150 senior citizens of Delhi-U.P border area who are destitute, neglected and uncared in their family.

Major activities of the Day care centre-:
  1. The centre provides food, clothing and day shelter to the 34 senior citizens.
  2. Counseling service provided as per need to come out of psychosocial problems & stress.
  3. Weekly health check up carried out by health professionals.
  4. Eye check-up in eye camps carried out yearly.
  5. Monthly ration and cash relief to elderly people who are unable to come to the centre.
  6. Children of school regularly visit the centre to enrich from their vast experience and sharing with them.
  7. Health talks were organized monthly to educate them about seasonal ailments, their health related issues, precautionary measures etc.

Sweater distributed to Senior Citizen's During Christmas Elderly were very pleased to receive the gift.
