| Police Sensilization Programme |

Introduction:
Asha Deep Foundation provided 17 Training on sensitization of police personal of Northeast District of Delhi on Juvenile Justice Act 2006 and role of Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) to bring attitudinal change in the police officers, who are dealing with the children in the first Phase between March and April 2010. In continuation to that process 2nd phase of sensitization was also awarded to Asha Deep Foundation for three months period from May 2010 to July 2010. The ADF conducted workshop of police officer of all ranks including ACP of Northeast District Delhi. A total of 26 workshops were organised in fifteen police stations as per the defined schedule. A total of 769 police personnel participated in the workshop.
Objective of the Training:
The objective of the workshop to Sensitize the Police Personnel at Police Station Level in Northeast District Delhi for handling Children in need of Care & Protection and Children in conflict with law under JJ Act 2006.
Duration of Training:
The Training provided to police officers was of 2.30 hours duration from 3.00 P.M. to 5.30 P.M. The workshop was conducted weekly twice. The assignment was awarded for five months from March to July 2010.
Assigned Police Station:
ADF has assigned all the police station coming under the jurisdiction of Northeast District of Delhi. A total of 15 police stations were covered during workshop. The following police stations were covered for sensitization workshop programme:

- Nand Nagari
- Gokulpuri
- Khajuri Khas
- New Usmanpur
- Mansarovar Park
- Seemapuri
- Bhajan Pura
- Karawal Nagar
- Jafrabad
- Welcome
- Harsh Vihar
- Jyoti Nagar
- Sonia Vihar
Details of Workshop:
A total of 43 workshops were organised in fifteen police stations as per the defined schedule in two phases. A total of 1301 police personnel participated in the workshop. The workshop was conducted by the expert resource persons from ADF faculty as well as the professionals from CHILDLINE was also invited to conduct the workshop. The workshops were conducted through PowerPoint Presentation in each police station according to the module developed by the experts of ADF. The personnel were educated about how to solve the problem while children brought in night. The police personnel also shared their experiences. The problems shared by police personnel during the workshop were further shared with ACP/CAW/NE Mr. Amit Roy and Mr. Rajneesh Gupta in review meetings. The review meetings were organised every month at Seelampur P.S. to discuss the development of workshop and assess the impact of workshop.
CONCLUSION:
The third phase of Sensitization has also started from November 2010 for two months. The workshop for police personnel on J.J. Act is a positive step to bring an attitudinal change in the behavior of police personnel. The workshop educated the officers about How to respond to the need of children. It has developed a child friendly culture in the police stations of Northeast District Delhi. It is presumed that in coming days Delhi will become the most secure place for children to live in under the vigilance of Delhi Police.
