Rag Picking Children's Project (RPCP)
 
The Rag-Picking Children's Project of Asha Deep Foundation is one of the major projects to bring socially excluded children in mainstream of society. The programme is covering 1100 children of estimated 3500 children of Northeast Delhi who are involved in rag picking. The programme is very successful and approximately 400 children are rehabilitated by synchronizing them in education, vocational training etc. Presently the programme is directly addressing 385 children for more effective impact. The programme is implemented in the northeast district of Delhi. The main objective of the programme is to enhance the quality of life of the Rag Picking children of the North East Delhi- U.P. Border. The main target group is children involved in rag picking or belong to rag picking families. They are further categorized into different groups. These are:
  • Children between the age group of 2-5yrs.
  • Adolescent girls between the age group of 11 -18yrs.
  • Children between the age group of 6-18yrs.
The project is designed in unique activities according to age-group and gender of the targeted beneficiaries. This project is supported by Holistic Child Development India, Pune.

The following components are strategically planned for mainstreaming of the rag picking children:
